About Dr. Neel
Dr. Neel grew up in Atlanta. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Georgia in 1975 and, after teaching special education for three years in Greensboro, NC, received her master's in education in 1979 and her doctorate of philosophy in 1982 from the University of Georgia.

Dr. Neel worked as a psychologist for the Wake County School System before beginning her private practice here in the Triangle, in 1982. Through the years her office has been associated with other psychologists, a pediatrician's office and most recently an obstetric and gynecological office. Currently she is in solo practice and continues to work closely with other health providers throughout the area.

In addition to providing psychotherapy, Dr. Neel supervises other therapists and counselors and conducts programs for local organizations and churches. In addition, she is conference speaker at the local and national level training both lay leaders and professionals. She co-authored 'A Celebration of Sex Guidebook' that accompanies 'A Celebration of Sex: A Guide to Enjoying God's Gift of Sexual Intimacy' by Doug Rosenau. This guidebook is to assist couples with their journey of maintaining or reclaiming sexual wholeness and intimate companionship.

Dr. Neel is licensed as a psychologist and certified as a Health Services Provider - Psychologist (HSP-P) - by the North Carolina Psychology Board. Dr. Neel is a certified sex therapist by the American Board of Christian Sex Therapists (www.abcst.org) and the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (www.aasect.org).

Dr. Neel subscribes to and works according to the ethical standards of psychologists (www.apa.org), sex therapists (www.aasect.org), and Christian Counselors (www.aacc.net). She continues to develop her skills and abilities through appropriate educational and training experiences offered through certified organizations, researchers and practitioners. Dr. Neel also participates in peer supervision with other mental health providers in the community.
